Greeley, CO, Wednesday, February 4, 2015—Boys & Girls Clubs of Weld County announces its winner from the 1st Annual Youth of the Year local competition! Miguel Palma was selected to represent Weld County at the State competition based on a panel of nine judges scoring him in 4 different areas. The four teens in the competition were ranked from 1-4 on the following items: Speech, each teen was asked to give a speech telling us who they are and how the Boys & Girls Clubs impacted their life, essays, each teen was required to submit 3 essays titled, “My Club Experience”, “My vision for America’s Youth” and “My Personal Brand” as well as GPA and Interview skills.
Teen Director Pedro Lopez said, “The teens selected have been prepping and working diligently for the past 5 months, even though the judges could only select one to call Youth of the Year, they all deserved it in their own way.”
Miguel is currently Junior at Greeley Central High School with a 3.0 GPA and plans on getting a Bachelor’s degree to become an athletic trainer.
