Program Specialist - Part Time

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: Unit Director

Exempt X Non-Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for the planning and implementation of a broad range of programs within a designated Boys & Girls Club Core Area, such as Character & Leadership, Health & Life Skills, Education & Career Development, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness, & Recreation.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success

1. Assist with the administration of designated Core Programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:

Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members and staff.
Program Development and Implementation

1. Assist the Unit Director and full-time Program Specialist to maintain Core Program goals and settings that insure the health and safety of members. Help to ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that club equipment is maintained in good working condition.

Supervision

1. Complete proper record keeping and reporting in a timely manner for: program attendance, disciplinary records, program outcomes & measures, and all other reports designated by the Club.
2. Supervise assigned groups as designated by the Unit Director or the full-time Program Specialist ensuring the safety of members and conduct is maintained.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Help to oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary.
2. Required to drive Club vehicles periodically.
3. Generate, prepare, and ensure the completion of required reports as they pertain to Club programs, grant requirements, attendance and as assigned by supervisors.

4. Required to work special events periodically as needed by the organization.
5. Other Duties as assigned by Supervisors.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Have completed or are currently working to complete a two or four year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

Previous work experience with youth in an after school or summer enrichment program
First-Aid and CPR Certified
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Valid Driver’s License and Commercial Driver’s License, and be insurable to drive all Club vehicles.

Primary Job Function:

Responsible for assisting the Clubhouse Director in planning and implementing a broad range of programs and activities for all members ages 5-18, with primary concern for Academic Success program delivery at a specific Clubhouse in Weld County that serves a specific demographic of youth.

Job Responsibilities:

Program Development and Implementation
Administer Academic Success Programs and additional activities that support the organization’s Youth Development Strategy.
Assist in the development of high yield academic activities that give members a sense of competence, belonging, influence, usefulness, and mastery
Assist in planning, and chaperoning club field trips.
Ensure that academic activities promote hands-on learning and members receive instruction and constructive feedback to master the appropriate skills.
Supervision and Leadership
Safely oversee youth during daily operations at a specific Boys & Girls Clubhouse location and implement programs to meet organizational goals and standards, ensuring the safety of members and conduct is maintained.
Contribute to an environment wherein members are inspired and enabled to participate in a variety of programs/activities throughout their Clubhouse and community.
Promote a positive atmosphere for all members and staff on a daily basis.
Complete proper record keeping and reporting in a timely manner for: program attendance, disciplinary records, program outcomes & measures, and all other reports designated by the Academic Success Director and the Unit Director.
Model skills and demonstrate common practices that are expected of members.
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members and staff.
Additional Responsibilities:

Assist Unit Director with special programs and/or events (i.e. Specialized Clubs, Recognition Programs, etc.), and/or participate in the implementation of other Clubhouse activities as necessary.
Collaborate and meet regularly with the Director of Academic Success, Unit Director, and other Academic Success Specialists.
Complete documentation such as attendance,
Required to drive Club vehicles periodically, if over the age of 21.
Required to work special events periodically as needed by the organization
Other duties as assigned by Supervisors.

Have completed or are currently working to complete a two or four year degree in related field (Education, Psychology, Etc.) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
Must have a strong passion for education and learning.
Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Group leadership skills, including and understanding of group dynamics.
Demonstrate organization and project management abilities.
Must be over the age of 18.
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record if over the age of 21.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

Previous work experience with youth, preferably in an after school or summer enrichment program.
Strong classroom management skills.
First-Aid and CPR Certified preferred
Commercial Driver’s License
