The Fort Morgan Clubhouse Torch Club partnered with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office to create gift bags for the elderly at the Valley View Villa Nursing Home. Knowing not all of these individuals will receive a Christmas gift or have someone to spend the holiday with, they knew this was something they had to do.
The Club members designed Christmas cards for each resident and the Sheriff's Office purchased a bunch of goodies that they could eat, including Rice Krispie Treats, Hershey's chocolate and fruit snacks. The Torch club members took all the goodies and handmade Christmas cards and wrapped them like a Christmas present. After that, they were ready to deliver!
3 out of the 8 torch club members were chosen to go to the Nursing Home and deliver the bags to the residents, They were graciously transported by the Sheriff's Office who also sent a few of their deputies to attend the event.
Fort Morgan Clubhouse Director, Brad Paris, asked the kids why this was important to them or why being in torch club was important. Here's what they had to say!
"Being in torch club is important to me because I like to help and give new ideas."
"This is important because I don't think they have families to give them Christmas present so this will make them happy."
"I like helping people and giving them a gift."
A huge thank you to the Morgan County Sheriffs Office and Valley View Villa Nursing Home for making this a possibility.
